Recently, the European Union medical body has certified the usage of Moderna’s Covid vaccine for 12 years and above age group. The protocol for the vaccination would be the same- the gap of four weeks between the two doses.
Earlier, the body had approved vaccination for the 18-year-old age group and above on January 18. The decision of implementing Moderna’s Covid Vaccines to 12 to 18 year old age group would go to the administrative body and then the vaccination policy should be decided accordingly by the 27 countries registered under the European Union.
This decision comes at a critical juncture when the countries around the world are threatened by the possibility of the arrival of third wave i.e the delta variant of the Covid-19 virus.
Earlier, the vaccine which was approved for the vaccination up 18-year-old age groups and above ones is the Pfizer vaccine.
Implementation of these vaccines is a crucial step to get the children immunized against this virus as 3rd wave might pose greater health risks for the children. In the following time period, US has done about 63% inoculations and about 57% of the population has been totally vaccinated, so the vaccination of the children is an important step towards the target of 100% vaccination of the citizens. Slowly the other countries might also follow the same suit of implementing the plans of vaccinating the kids against the Covid-19 virus.
